Lothian Phoenix
Registration
Below you will find a step-by-step guide for becoming a full member of Lothian Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club. New players at Lothian Phoenix WBC are permitted four sessions free of charge, giving them the opportunity to decide whether the club is a good fit for them without having to commit financially.
-
Please ensure you have completed a Player Registration Form - you will find this at the bottom of the page.
-
You will need to purchase a membership for British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB) and Basketball Scotland. These are the two governing bodies for our sport and membership is essential as they provide insurance and indemnity cover for the club and for coaches at training sessions, matches and events. Players who are not yet playing competitively and only attending training sessions are able to obtain recreational memberships free of charge.
-
All players and parents of junior players are required to join our community on SPOND, a free app for community and sports clubs. This helps facilitate communication between coaches and organisers with our community.
-
We require all players to pay a monthly subscription fee to cover the costs of hiring facilities, purchasing new equipment for the club and to cover other training costs. All the funds raised by subscriptions directly benefit the club and the committee is required to submit a financial report at our AGM so that club members can be sure that club funds are being used appropriately. Our finances are also independently audited. Please see our pricing structure below:

We understand that participating in sport can be a financial burden to many families, especially during the ongoing cost of living crisis. While our monthly subscriptions are essential to keep the club operating we do not want lack of funds to be a barrier to participation. If you think you may struggle to pay your or your child’s subscription please speak to Conor Smart (LPWBC Chairman) to explore some alternative arrangements for payment.
