Venue & Training
Training sessions are held at Armadale Academy on a weekly basis. The club can provide sports wheelchairs if you are new to the sport, and guidance when it comes to aquiring your own sports chair. We work hard at our training sessions, but the club itself has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for new players.
You don't need any proir knowledge of wheelchair basketball - just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Tuesday nights are for first team and advanced players. Thursdays are for players of all ability and experience levels, as well as our Phoenix Juniors, who train in a separate hall. Thursday sessions are split across three hours. The first hour is exclusively for junior players in the big hall. In the second hour the juniors separate, with the younger players moving into the small hall while the older players continue to train alongside the seniors. the final hour is primarily for senior players and those participating in our National League squads.
Tuesday nights:
18:00 - 19:30 - Div 3 + Scottish League Training
19:30 - 21:30 - Div 1 + Premier Squad Training
Thursday nights:
18:00 - 20:00 - Junior Training
18:00 - 19:30 - Open Session (all levels of experience and new players)
19:30 - 21:30 - Div 1 + Premier Squad Training
New players and juniors who have gained enough experience to play at National League level may also be invited to play on Tuesday evenings in the larger hall at Armadale Academy alongside the seniors. This session will introduce players to a faster pace and higher intensity.
Juniors who are ready to play at a higher competitive level may be given the chance to train later on a Thursday evening in the large hall. Coaching staff meet routinely to discuss individual player performace and assess what training will be most appropriate to suit a player's development.
